The left side of the laptop's palmrest I believe rests over the battery but it doesn't get too hot. There are no thermal issues anywhere I can tell. It seems pretty solidly built and the only flex I can find is in the middle of the keyboard if I press hard. I haven't had any issues with strange creaking noises on my laptop. I have to check on the power supply again, I thought it was 180 but the website now is also updated to say 150. My thermals seem way off from what you and others are reporting, especially with the liquid metal repaste and the size of these heatsinks. I really like the laptop but I am probably returning mine after reading your post. You can check the wattage on the bottom of the brick. The website is now updated and shows that is comes with a 150w power supply. Do you have any problems with heat in that area of your laptop?ģ) Did you really get a 180w power supply? It was advertised as 180w when I bought mine but it really came with a 150w power supply. Besides thermals, I do have a few questions:ġ) Does the top of your monitor lid (by the webcam) sometimes make a loud cracking noise when you open the laptop? My laptop does this quite often and it is a bit unnerving.Ģ) The left side of the palmrest area gets very hot when gaming on mine, uncomfortably so. Judging by your reported thermals I'd assume something isn't right with mine. The CPU kept hovering in the upper 90s though. I tried using a cooling pad to see if that would help with temperatures and for the GPU it did, max temp around 68c. My CPU reached 99c in demanding games like GTAV while the GPU maxed at around 75c. I also got mine from GentechPC and I opted for the repaste with conductonaut on the CPU and GPU. I ordered the NP8851 (P950ER) which the NP8954 replaced, it has the same internals (8750h, 1070maxq, 120hz screen) as the NP8954 just in a different chassis. Witcher 3 after 25 minutes running at stock CPU and GPU: CPU temps are a little worse despite a 100mv undervolt running a high of 85ish.ĮDIT: Lies, I actually get around 57C for the CPU running heaven. But running heavenmark while overclocked only leaves my GPU at 70C highs with an average temp of 67. I did get thermal paste and fujipoly thermal pads when I ordered so that probably helped. The GPU seems to jump a bit more in it's clockspeed but thermals are pretty amazing. The only options while using afterburnee to overclock was increasing max clock and memory clock which I brought up an extra 220mhz for both. I saw that not there wasn't a lot of discussion about this laptop and I wanted to throw up a post if anyone had any questions about it since I feel it's a lesser known alternative to some of the other thin and light gaming laptops out there right now and since I got it in the mail a few days ago.Įdit with more info: I've managed to overclock the GPU using MSI afterburner and undervolt using Intel's tool showing about a 10-12% increase in performance using heaven engine benchmarks as well as furmark. r/windows10 Please read the sidebar, and use this form when asking for advice :D Please do not ask for recommendations in mod-mail.
